Program Impact:
Rhode Island Delivers Over 4,500 Rebates in 20 Hours!

Rhode Island's appliance rebate program helped Ardente sell energy efficient boilers and tankless water heaters to consumers who wouldn't have been able to afford them otherwise.

Consumers in Rhode Island acted fast on state rebates for ENERGY STAR qualified appliances—so fast, they were reserved within a day! On March 25, the rebates were released; as of March 26, consumers were able to add their names to a waiting list.

"It has been good for sales, absolutely," says Paul Ardente, owner of Ardente Supply Company, a plumbing, heating, and cooling equipment store with outlets in Providence, Westerly, and Woonsocket.

"There's been a direct benefit. We sold boilers and tankless water heaters. And it helped us upsell the better appliances. It gave us the ability to get someone to put in a system they normally wouldn't be able to afford."

Even Paul Ardente cashed in.

"I've been a participant myself," he laughs.

The rebates, funded by American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, ranged from $150 to $500 for qualifying boilers, furnaces, tankless water heaters, dishwashers, freezers, and refrigerators. The program is administered by the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources.
