THIS PROGRAM IS CLOSED. AS OF JULY 12, 2010, NEBRASKA IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING NEW APPLICATIONS.
The State of Nebraska implemented a mail-in rebate program to help residents replace older, inefficient appliances with new, energy efficient appliances. The program began July 6, 2010, and ended on July 12, 2010.
Eligible products included
- Refrigerators
- Clothes washers
- Dishwashers
- Gas and propane furnaces
- Central air conditioners
- Air source heat pumps
ENERGY STAR® qualification is required for all products except central air conditioners, air source heat pumps, and gas furnaces, which must meet the energy efficiency standards required to qualify for a federal tax credit.
Consumers must purchase the appliances from "registered" heating, ventilation, and air conditioning contractors or retail locations, and "self-certify" replacement of their old units. Nebraska encourages consumers to recycle old refrigerators through programs sponsored by the Nebraska Public Power District and the Omaha Public Power District
