The State of Arizona implemented a mail-in rebate program to help residents replace older, inefficient appliances with ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances. Rebates for clothes washers, dishwashers, electric heat pump water heaters, gas storage waters heaters, and gas tankless water heaters began on April 12, 2010 and ended on June 1, 2010. Rebates for refrigerators, freezers, room air conditioners, and solar water heaters began on July 1, 2010, and closed on July 24, 2010; however, consumers can join a waitlist in the event additional funds become available.
Eligible products include
- Clothes washers
- Dishwashers
- Gas storage water heaters
- Gas tankless water heaters
- Electric heat pump water heaters
- Refrigerators
- Freezers
- Room air conditioners
- Solar water heaters (both electric and gas back-up)
Rebates vary based on the appliances' efficiency levels. Consumers must self-certify the replacement of an old appliance. Arizona encourages residents to recycle the old appliances.
